- President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent to promulgate an ordinance that amends the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The ordinance will make significant changes in the Land Acquisition Act including removal of consent clause for acquiring land for five areas of industrial corridors, PPP projects, rural infrastructure, affordable housing and defence.

- President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent to promulgate an ordinance that amends the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The ordinance will make significant changes in the Land Acquisition Act including removal of consent clause for acquiring land for five areas of industrial corridors, PPP projects, rural infrastructure, affordable housing and defence.
- President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent to National Judicial Appointments Commission Bill. The Bill was passed by Parliament in August last year and 15 States have ratified it. The bill has provision to set up a National Judicial Appointments Commission to replace the present Collegium system of appointments of judges in higher judiciary which has been under severe criticism.
- Planning Commission was on Thursday replaced by a new think-tank, NITI Aayog, that will be headed by the Prime Minister and will have all Chief Ministers as members in a broad-based Governing Council to involve states in evolving national development priorities.- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday released a commemorative coin in honour of Jamsetji Tata, popularly known as father of modern Indian industry, on his 175th birth anniversary here. Paying tributes to Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, Modi said "those who create history, without seeking or holding power, are truly great".
- Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi has dedicated his Nobel Peace prize to the nation by presenting his medallion to President Pranab Mukherjee.
- The three-day 13th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas got off to a grand start at Mahatma Gandhi Mandir in Gandhinagar. The event aims at connecting India to its vast overseas Diaspora and bring their knowledge, expertise and skills on a common platform.
- International Hindi Conference with the theme of "Expanding World of Hindi: Possibilities and Challenges," would be held in New Jersey in April 2015.
- Acclaimed filmmaker K Balachander, who brought in a new wave of filmmaking in Tamil cinema with bold themes and mentored talented actors like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Sridevi, died on Tuesday.
- Home Minister launches integrated women safety app ‘Himmat’
- To plug leakages in implementation of MGNREGA, the Centre is planning to introduce Mobile Monitoring System for effective execution of works under the rural job scheme.
- Delhi will be developed into a "global city" and the country's first 'smart city' will be set up to decongest the national capital and facilitate it with all modern amenities, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said.
