Economist and former Reserve Bank of India deputy governor Subir Gokarn will be the new executive director representing India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal for appointment of Dr. Subir Gokaran, Economist (former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India) as Executive Director representing the Indian Constituency (India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka) at the International Monetary Fund vice Dr. Rakesh Mohan".

- Subir Gokarn,(born 3 October 1959) was one of the four Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)along with Anand Sinha, K C Chakrabarty and H R Khan.
- He has been replaced by Urjit Patel as of January 2013.
- Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Governor of RBI, Dr.Gokarn was the Chief Economist of global rating agency Standard and Poor's (S&P ) Asia-Pacific since August 2007.
- He is the head of CRISIL's Research and Information business and also a nominee Board Member of the State Bank Of India.
