Supreme Court invites suggestions from public on Collegium system

Supreme Court on Thursday gave more time for furnishing suggestions to improve collegium system of appointment of judges. The final hearing will be on Nov 18 and 19. An apex court constitution bench headed by Justice A S Khehar said that all the suggestions should reach the ministry of law and justice by 13th of November. These suggestions should be limited to the points of transparency in the working of the collegium, eligibility criteria for the selection of judges, setting up of a permanent secretariat of the collegium and the procedure for entertaining the complaints in respect of the candidates being considered for judgeship.
