India and Japan ink several agreements including an MoU on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The two countries hold delegation level talks. Agreements signed on India's first-ever bullet train on Mumbai - Ahmedabad sector through Japan's Shinkansen along with a pact on transfer of defence equipment and technology. The two countries also signed several agreements in the field of high speed Rail, Defence Equipment and Technology Security, Infra, Tech, Education and Economy.
The agreements were signed after the delegation level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Shinzo Abe is on a three-day visit to India. In a joint statement issued at the end of annual delegation-level talks, India and Japan reiterated their unwavering commitment to realise a peaceful, open, equitable, stable and rule-based order in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
