Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday
announced a relief package of Rs 1000 cr for the flood-hit Tamil Nadu,
this will be over and above Rs.940 crore given by the Centre earlier. PM
Modi also made an aerial survey of the affected areas to take stock of
the situation. Earlier, PM Modi arrived at the INS Rajali naval base at
Arakkonam, Chennai by a special flight.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jaylalithaa and state Governor K. Rosaiah upraised PM Modi about the latest situation in the state. As heavy rains continue to lash Chennai on Wednesday, several parts of the city have come to a standstill. Electricity has been turned off in some areas as a precautionary measure.
