President's rule has been imposed in Uttarakhand and state Assembly has been kept in suspended animation. The recommendation for central rule was made by the Union Cabinet at its emergency meeting last night, chaired by PM Narendra Modi. Earlier, Harish Rawat led Uttarakhand government has been asked to prove its majority by March 28, after nine rebel MLAs of the Congress sided with the Opposition BJP to destabilise the government.
Assembly speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal,has also disqualified nine rebel Congress MLA's from the House.Expressing satisfaction, Uttrakhand BJP in charge, Shyam Jaju said that the state has been witnessing misrule, corruption, murder of democracy. He added that in order to prevent all these, party made a plea to governor to impose president's rule. BJP Leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has welcomed the decision of president's rule being imposed in Uttarakhand asserting that it decision has been taken to save democracy.
