Services wins Santosh Trophy 2016. Defending champions Services rallied splendidly to take Maharashtra in their strides. Services won 2-1 to once again prove their overall supremacy in the national football championship and take home the Santosh Trophy. Since 2012, the four-time champions Services won their fourth Santosh trophy title in their five final appearances. Tudu, a national camper for the SAFF Cup last year, scored twice in the space of 11 minutes (26th and 37th) to help Services clinch their fifth title overall at the SEC Railway Stadium. Mohammed Shabaz had given Maharashtra the lead in the 15th minute. Services took away Rs 5 lakh for winning the tournament while Maharashtra got Rs 3 lakh for finishing runners-up.
Santosh Trophy 2016 was the 70th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main state competition in Indian football. The qualifiers for the tournament shall begin from 6 February and the final of the tournament proper held in Nagpur on 13 March 2016 where Services wins Santosh Trophy 2016.
