Om Puri passes away

Om Puri, one of the most versatile and celebrated actors in India, died of a heart attack in Mumbai on 6th January 2016. He was 66. Over an illustrious career spanning four decades, Om Puri acted in over 250 films, his popularity transcending borders and stereotypes. The recipient of two National awards and two Filmfare Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award, Om Puri had an illustrious film career , spanning over four decades. 
A critically acclaimed actor, Puri featured in films like 'Ardh Satya', 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro', 'Aakrosh', 'Mirch Masala' and many others. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor twice, in 1984 for his performance in Ardh Satya and in 1982 for Arohan. He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor with his performance in Aakrosh. He was also nominated for the BAFTA award for his performance in East is East and was awarded an honorary OBE in July 2004 for his performances in English films.
